Is August 12th a Public Holiday?

As we'll be arriving in Phuket the day before, I'd like to find out whether everything is business as usual on if it's a public holiday or will most things be closed. I have previously been to Bali on a public holiday which was classed as a sacred day and we were confined to the resort. Not sure if that custom applies in Phuket.

Your help is appreciated.

Linda.

It's mothers day the Queens birthday. No it is not like Nyepi when everything really shuts down.

Shopping restaurants etc will all be open/

However I am not sure about the bars on that day...

Thank you for the quick response - it's great we can still get out and about without feeling we're doing the wrong thing.

Thanks again.

Ah, the glorious 12th August - unless you are a grouse of course.
