Pax per taxi from airport

Hi,

Read from one of the post that the metered taxi from the airport to Patong carry only three person. Tot four pax per cab is the norm for taxi.....

Can someone help to confirm this pls? Four of us are arriving which means two taxi at a cost of B1200 to Patong which is quite steep.

Any other alternatives recommended?

Thanks in advance.

The taxis in Phuket are not large and 3 pax, and perhaps more importantly, their luggage is about the limit.

Minivans also run services on a shared basis for about 150 baht per pax. The trip will take considerably longer though as you need to wait til they fill up and then drop other passengers off along the way.

Hi there, The taxis are the same size as Singapore taxis, so a tight squeeze for 4 bigger Western size people. (We have done it with 4 in Singapore) but the problem will be your luggage, if you all have suitcases then it will not all fit in the boot.

You could organize a private driver to pick you up in a van, I think the average price is about 700baht.

Here are a few with their email addresses.

When you arrive at airport, leave terminal and turn hard right. About 40 metres is taxi booth. Unless you have very little luggage I doubt that 4 will get into 1 cab. the cost for 1 cab is 450 Baht to Patong. Ignore the touts between exit and taxi booth as they will rip you off. Also be very aware that taxi drivers will try to sell you all sorts of tours on the way to Patong (45mins)Just tell them you have already organised tours. Also be aware that they will say that they don't know where your hotel is and recommend another hotel (for which they get commission). Just ignore and stick to your guns!

Thanks alot for the info.

We are the usual small asian size, even my two kids are bigger ('cos all the good food goes to them..........) and with two light luggage. Guess that 1 cab will do in this case.

Thanks and Wishing all & Your Love Ones A Merry Christmas & A Happy 2010.
