Last minute Help with hotels for december stay:) please....

Hello fellow travelers!

I have finally made a choice to stay either in Karon or Patong but still undecided about hotels. First let me say that if I stay in Patong, I want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Patong nightlife, and would like a hotel that faces the sea, ie across the road and not 10mns walk (and clean beaches please :))...so the hotel should cater more for couples/families and not to backpackers :)..believe me I want to party but i am with my 60 yo parents!! I also want to be able to take a tuk tuk to go to Patong if needed in 5-10 max...but the Hotel should be away from the path of crazy nightlife outings :)

From the list of Patong hotels below, which ones would fit the requirements?

As for karon, well I want to ensure all above too but am looking for a more upscale experience (not like Four seasons) but a good, clean hotel with great facilities and access to the beaches...which ones you would recommend?

Also I will only be there 5 days on dec 20! and yes I am aware of the compulsory Xmas dinner fees :(

So here is my list, if anyone of you can add their opinion on these hotels, I would appreciate

Karon Princess

Seaview Patong

The Sea Patong

Nipa Resort

Thantip Villa Hotel

Marina Phuket

Old Phuket

Front Village Hotel Karon

Andaman sea view

also I will only stick to this list...I have been searching for 2 weeks all other alternatives :)

I want to thank you in advance !!

If you want seaview and across road from the beach in Patong, close enough to busy center but not right in it, look at the Club Andaman resort. One of the longest established in Patong. Would suit you and also well suit your parents, nice gardens ( can be lacking in some newer places as land is so tight now )

Club Andaman is 'high' enough to have nice sea view rooms

Old Phuket hotel nice but not opposite the beach. Marina is good location more tropical in style than many newer places, again well established for many years. Front Village is walkable to beach but don't let the word 'front' influence you. It is a 'fair' walk to the busier area of Karon.

Karon Princess is beach road location, note seaview rooms can be partial angled seaview.

Karon is a long beach and has a breezy more relaxed atmosphere. Patong is far more built up. Full-on busy tourist town.

I personally only know the Front Village and Marina Phuket out of your Karon Choices. In my opinion there is nothing "upscale" about Front village and as Monica says it is an easy walk to the beach but not just across the road. Also it is IMO the wrong part of Karon.

I would certainly go for Marina Phuket

Have a great time.

And PS 60 is not that old.....

hi guys thanks so much for your posts!

Monica4, do you have an opinion on Avantika?

This hotel sounds very appealing as its got great reviews but there are a few of them that have put me off, especially those pertaining to the quality of the beach across the road, being not that clean and full of thrash? is that the case and is it so for beaches in patong? Is it exaggerated? also any insight as to the quality and feel of the property? I must say the boutique feel of the hotel (only 31 rooms) is appealing

And 2nd ask, what about Nipa resort? It seems good too for the price but their policy on their website about escorts who have to leave premises prior to 8am is a bit dodgy to me! I have nothing against people having fun but why would you claim this publicly on your site?
