Durian in July

I understand July is the good season for durian. Can I expect to find durian on sale from street vendors? Last time I was in Phuket I didn't see any, but that was in early April.

I'm told the best season is around now and ending in about June, but It can vary a little. Bought some yesterday!

We bought some durian from Phuket town markets and it was during June/July..Easy to find at the markets, just follow your nose...!!

Hotels and resorts usually will not allow you to bring durian back into the hotel..

I don't know why...??...Hehe..!!...

The King Of Fruits, with a rather special aroma.

NEVER eat Durian and drink liquor at the same time.

Cocotang..I always wonder the samethings lol. Seriously For any one that can't tolerates the special aroma but like to have s go at it maybe try Durian ice-cream or sticky rice Durian instead they seem to have less aroma.

Happy eating

Author Anthony Burgess wrote that it was "like eating sweet raspberry blancmange in a lavatory". (I think he stole that line off Rudyard Kipling)

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain described it far worse: "Like French-kissing your dead grandmother." Oddly, he is still a huge fan.

I like it myself........the fruit I mean.

From the smell, I think the the grandmother would be better.

Tony, my offer is still open, but not for the durian.

Horrible stuff.

Yeah, I hadn't heard the alcohol thing.

Andrew Zimmern, who travels the world for his TV show, eating weird things like live, beating frog hearts, Taiwanese stinky tofu and African white ants, said durian is the ONE thing that stopped him in his tracks.

But he was eating Malaysian durian, not Thai. :-)
