I thought I have final plan for 9 days in Thailand during peak season:
3 nights in Khao Sok (Dec 27-30) 2 nights in Phuket for NYE celebration, then stay in Railay jan 1st - Jan 5th.
The reason I peaked Railay as the last portion as I though it would be the most relaxing and most scenic one (I'd like to leave the best for the end).
I didn't know much about Khao Sok, but then I discovered that place and it also looks very interesting and very scenic, but I have heard warnings from several tour operators and accommodation owners that Dec 27-30 is not the best time to visit Khao Sok because park will be full of partying local people, so it won't be as quiet and serene as it could be and they advised to visit it after Jan 2nd.
So now I'm thinking maybe I should listen to advise from Khao Sok experts and stay at Railay first (Dec 27th - Dec30 or 31st), then relocate to Phuket for a couple of days and leave Khao Sok as the last portion of my trip.
Do you think Khao Sok can beat Railay in terms of scenery and relaxation? I really would like to save the best for the last portion of my trip.
I still have flexibility to rearrange my hotel bookings, so both options should be available.
