Hi

Yes you can providing you clear immigration in Kuala Lumpur!

You can actually do double if you are careful! Buy on the way out of AUS, then put into your checked in suitcase - won't work if you have fly thru or checked in luggage. We recently flew to KUL then overnight at hotel, then checked in again and got double the smokes for Mr Mitch which you can't get in Thailand.

What is your friends routing and schedule? Do they clear immigration in Kuala Lumpur?

Hi Mitch we are all travelling together

We booked direct Melbourne to ohuket with air Asia never flown with them before but I don't think we have to clear immigration? If we stay in transit? Or I think we can if we want to wander around but I'm not sure if we have to collect our baggage was going to ask at the airport

DF at Phuket is at the end of the Baggage Collection Hall on your right (don't blink or you might miss it!) just before you go through Customs.

Hi hawk1991 . We are doing a flight from Mel to Phuket in June flying Air asia.We have fly thru so stay in transit. So don't have to clear immigration. As stopover is for 5 hrs would love to hear after your trip if you think we should or can clear immigration. So then we walk around airport . As imagine transit area would be a small area. Enjoy your trip.

Doris,

We just returned from Bali through the LCCT and actually found the Transit area not too bad with its Duty Free, Sports Bar and few other shops compared to the very busy and hot pre Transit area.

Hopefully things will improve in both areas when the new KLIA2 replaces the LCCT on 28th June 2013.

Hi Hawk,

If you are transiting through to Phuket on AA and its a transit flight (will say on the ticket) you don't have to collect your baggage it goes straight through to Phuket.

They have an excellent Tobacco shop in the transit lounge off the the left hand end of the duty free shop, huge range of pipe tobacco and cigars as well. We buy Pipe tobacco for a friend in Thailand and its about 1 tenth the price of Aus.

Cheers, Pete
