Resorts with an ocean view in Patong

Hi,

We are looking for a resort where we would get a good ocean view from the balcony, close to the centre of Phuket so we can walk to restaurants, shopping etc. have looked at the Impiana Resort, does anyone know if you get much of a view from the rooms close to the beach? It looked a nice resort, not too big. Is it on a nice section of the beach, or is it all the same along that area? Thanks for any help.

There are resorts with better views eg Paragon, Novotel, Diamond Cliff but they are a longer walk.

Hi

Although Impiana is beachfront and have seaview rooms it wouldnt be a panoramic view, good location and lovely smaller boutique resort on a good part of Patong beach, smallish pool very nice resort though :-)

Also look at Amari Coral resort south end Patong, beautiful views over Patong bay from rooms and pool www.amari.com/coralbeach/

Novotel, Graceland, Diamond Cliff north end all have good seaview rooms but bigger resorts too

If you dont mind a shuttle or taxi ride into town by only 5 mins Merlin Beach Resort is also beautiful with deluxe seaview rooms and a little sandy bay just off the grounds (also a larger resort though)

Happy planning

Cheers

Mossy :-)

Hi, thanks for the replies, I did think Graceland looked nice as well, but wasnt sure if they got much of an oceanview from the rooms, will look at the others as well. We wanted to be within walking distance to the main part of town. Is there many that are directly on the beach, no road to cross?? Thanks

Thanks

Hi

Graceland do have some seaview rooms but mainly side seaview from pool view deluxe rooms, better views in some rooms in the new wing but they are more expensive, we had a Graceland Suite before right on the front which was great, but you do have the road in between! great resort though and we are going back in Oct with a pool access room :) its about a 15 min walk to main part town but plenty of good dining and everything you need right outside of the resort! the best part of Patong beach..... IMO anyway :)

the only resorts in Patong directly on the beach are Impiana, La Flora and Patong Bay Garden, Amari has a little bit of a bay but beautiful views and isn't too big of a resort either, still about a 10-15 min walk to main centre but plenty of everything close by

cheers

Mossy :)

Thanks Mossy, Gracelands sounds like it be better than being right in the centre of town, if its only 15 min walk but still has restaurants etc close by. Is sept/oct a better time to go than

July in regard to swimming at the beaches rather than the pools and also regarding amount of rain?? Thanks

well the monsoon/low season is from May to end Oct and we have been at most times, havent found much difference really in any of it

Sept is meant to be the wettest month (in theory) but we have been 3x in sept and always had good weather, (have lots of photos with blue skies to prove it lol) ....occassional showers here and there but mostly overnight! sunshine and showers weather... one or two occassional days where it has rained on and off all day but the next day has been good.....still had a fair bit of sunshine and gets hot and humid! a shower here and there actualy cools it down a bit!

bit of a lottery really and cant really say if one month would be better over the other as who knows what it will do this year?

as for swimming in the sea it isnt safe to swim at this time as you get under water currents and the sea conditions can change very quickly, just obay the red flags and life guard instructions!

we have still had a lot of beach time and beach walks but never swim in the sea, better to have a resort with good pools and pool bar service....luxury :)

I have stayed at Impianna and its lovely, but as Mossy said whilst its beach front, even the seaview rooms dont have the view you probably want. The beach is quite nice there, very close to everything.

As Mossy said Gracelands may be a good choice.

The other I would suggest and you will get great views and be directly across from the beach is The Bliss Suites, south end of Patong. The suites are new and really very Nice. The Bliss Hotel is the older section and whilst view is just as good, rooms are much older and smaller. As long as you are 3rd floor its a fab view from the balcony
