security situation in Phuket

Hey guys, with the current situation in Thailand right now I am thinking of cancelling my trip to Bangkok this week. I was supposed to go to Phuket too but I am not too sure because I read that demonstrations are also being held in the island. Any thoughts?

Don't cancel Bangkok or Phuket. There is no danger from demonstrations in either location.

The Thai Government declared Bangkok and some parts of surrounding provinces under a state of emergency late yesterday (1/21/14) giving the police extremely wide and broad freedoms to control the current unrest in Bangkok and surrounding provinces. It could be extended to other provinces if protests against the Government continue to exist and grow.

Hi Kevin. In my opinion, none at all in Phuket. More danger crossing the road.
