What to pack for a Vietnam motorbike trip? Packing List.

Hi

I will be traveling across Vietnam on a motorbike in mid January to Early February. I will only be bringing my 7kg hand luggage to Vietnam having the idea of buying some items there. What are some do and don'ts on what to bring on this trip. 7kg doesn't sound like much but by the time we have other things, I don't want to be carrying more than 10kg on the bike. I should add that I will be starting in HCMC working my way up to Hanoi.

Thanks for the help.

Long sleeved nylon jacket and gloves for sun protection. I use bicycle gloves.

Proper licences.

You have to consider the different weather conditons, it is still a bit cold in the north, so make sure you have a decent jumper with you.

I also would bring a little first aid kit and some disinfectant spray that helps for cuts in case you all off the bike.

Wet weather gear, a plastic poncho just won’t cut it in a heavy tropical downpour.

Good luck ColVal

Yes some good rain protection gear. You can buy that here. You are going to hit some rain so be prepared. Enjoy.

I've got rain gear. Once the skies open you'll be wet, count on it. The rain gear then acts as a wetsuit and keeps you warm.

I'm thinking of doing the same trip, roughly the same time of year (Feb-Mar). I'd be inclined to pull over when it rains and wait it out. But I thought Jan-Mar would be quite dry (just the occasional short downfall?)
