Missing Immigration Card

Does anyone know what happens if you dont have the departure section of your immigration card when you come to leave vietnam?

We were'nt given one on arrival in Hanoi airport and the guy at the customs desk said we didnt need one but then we heard the other queues being told to go and get one. I have since found out that you need it when leaving...

Has anyone experienced this?

Same thing happened to me. I lost mine at the airport and I just filled in another one without any problem.

same thing happened to my husband and he paniced somewhat as they seemed to give him a sorta 'hard time' but in the end let him go through.

I wasn't with him but he worried enough about it to comment to me later.

Again despite what Mez says dont fret.Last time i lost my card was in July of this year and i actually went to the immigration office in Hanoi airport and asked what i should do.They treated it as a joke and could,nt believe i was worried about it!!!!

I certainly didn't mean to worry anyone- and obviously things can be resolved quite easily- i just thought it weird that they would make a fuss over it at all.

Guys,

If you happen to lose your departure card and worried about it, you would look around you and find that the population of VN is 85,000,000 Vietnamese people and 15,000,000 foreigners!!!!

It is a simple procedure to fill in a new form! ---on occassins when you hand your passport in at the hotel( with your departure form inside ) , the hotel can misplace it inadvertantly!

Thanks for all the comments - does it matter do you think that we havent even had one in the first place? Presmably they usually put the immigration card number on their systems - which there wont be one unless they have just keyed in any old rubbish?

Did you guys mean the Arrival and Departure Card?

They stamped when we crossed Immigration Desk and stamped when we bought things in Duty Free Shop but this was our second time no one bothered to collect that card. We still have them with us now at home.

They didn't take the Arrival part when we entered Vietnam. I thought they wanted to make it simple that they would have taken back all when we left. They didn't.

I've heard in the past someone really got a headache that he/she lost it. Had to declare why and when he/she lost and came there to ask for a copy of the original form. That time the card was in 2 copies, one white and one yellow.

We however took 2 extra forms so next time we won't have to fill them in when shaking in the plane. We'll fill them in at home before going ;-) and to find out no one will collect them again hahahaha........
