Chocolate Buffet or Tea at Sofitel Metropole in Hanoi

It has been suggested that we spend our few hours between returning to Hanoi from our HaLong Bay junk cruise and our 7:30 p.m. flight from Hanoi to Hue at the Sofitel Metropole at the chocolate buffet that runs 3-5:30 p.m. Also, it sounds like a nice place to just hang out for these few hours.

I wondered what others thought of this suggestion or if others had done this. There is apparently also a "tea" offered and wondered if this was part of the chocolate buffet or something separate.

I assume the Metropole would let us check our luggage with them while we were at the buffet.

It had been $8 up until a year or so again, then was $10, then $12 and now is $15. It's an example of the inflation that seems to be hitting tourist spots in Vietnam. (and I'm sure a result of the dollar losing its value as well.)

Had the chocolate buffet in April 2007. Is a wonderful experience and if you have the opportunity you should go for it. The cost then was us$11 each but was great value. We paid half of that as we had an Accor Advantage Plus card.

There are at least 30 selections of chocolote and we stayed about two hours. It starts about 3.00pm. Hot chocolate drink is included but you need to pay extra for tea and coffee. You will not eat dinner that night!

Some people were having High Tea instead of the chocolate buffet which included tea and coffee.

Go for the chocolate buffet. You will not regret it.
