Postal Visa from Vietnamese Embassy, London

Just a quick heads up for obtaining a Vietnamese Visa (postal) from the Vietnamese Embassy in London, UK

Email address: consular@vietnamembassy.org.uk

I sent an email saying that I would like to apply for a standard 30-day, single entry visa for 2 persons & would they please forward me the relevant fee & postage information?

The present fee (April 2011) is £44 for a standard 30-day, single entry visa.

The return charge is £6/passport for 2 or 3 applications by Royal Mail Special Delivery (grey plastic envelope)

I applied for 2 visa’s therefore I paid £44 x 2 + £12 p&p + Royal Mail Special Delivery x 2 (grey plastic envelopes) @ approx £10. Total £110

My travel company quoted £165/£170 to go thru a 3rd party agent.

I did not price the VOA .

Go to the Vietnamese Embassy website www.vietnamembassy.org.uk/ & download Application Form F.

Complete the forms, glue/staple photographs to same, make cheque out for £100, put forms x 2, passports x 2, cheque & SAE (Royal Mail Special Delivery) into Royal Mail Special Delivery & post.

I posted mine on a Monday & received passports back 9 days later.

Hope this helps?

We are heading off at the end of June. Looking forward to a great holiday?

Hi Tigertribal,

Thanks for the useful information. I too am heading to Vietnam in June!

I am looking to visiting the embassy shortly to obtain my visa - Do you have

any idea of the cost for 1 month multiple entry visa?

Many thanks,

Cleo

Hi Cleo, an up to 30-day, tourist, multiple-entry visa fee costs £75 & £85 for business purposes in the standard processing. (April 2011)

The visa fee for fast-track processing is £95/passport for tourist purposes & £100/passport for business purposes.

Enjoy

If you do visa on arrival from UK it is cheaper.

www.myvietnamvisa.com has the following charges for a one month single entry.

£12.29 for a normal service plus $25 (£15.37 today) on arrival. £27.66 each which is a big saving for 2 people. We have used them as have quite a few others on this forum. We waited about 10 minutes at HCMC airport but other have reported a longer wait.

PurpleStar, visa on arrival is not quite as the name implies, although it is a reasonably straightforward process. There is a 'Top question' on the subject (see the box on the top right-hand side of this page), but to save you time the link is:

tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g293921-c148049/Vie…

The agent I use for my VOAs is hotels-in-vietnam.com/hotels/Travel_Vietnam/… , but myvietnamvisa.com, as recommended by littletimeleft, is equally good. Alternatively it is possible that your hotel can arrange a VOA for you too - the possibilities and people willing to do it for you are almost infinite!

But from UK without any faffing around is what I suggested.

I had my hotel Golden Sun arrange my visa approval for $14 and I paid $25 for the stamping fees.

Follow the procedure with the link CB has given.

I understand that if you are flying into Vietnam, you can get the "visa on arrival", but if you are going over by land, you must have a proper visa before you arrive.

So we're going by train, so no online voa for us!

That would be correct.
