Gifts for Guides?

We are using Hanoikids to tour around with in Hanoi, I know it's common to bring a gift for your guide with this group as they can not accept money. What do most bring? Havn't a clue what to bring them!

Many people have given modern magazines from their home country or otherwise something of uniqueness, but not too quirky - I expect they have enough kangaroo tie pins now - not quite sure what quirky things California has, apart from beach babes :) Not knowing in advance the sex of your guide can make it harder to give a personal item. We also exchanged email addresses with our guide and have a continuing relationship.

Try local football gear - tshirt or hat works well. (can use for a lad or lady)
