Back for Round 2 in April, very eager!!

We have just finalised our first return trip, very keenly looking forward to it and I thought I would tease some of you with the details, lol:-)

Fly into HCMC, from Singapore after getting a very good deal with Scoot and Tiger (THANKS BOWENARROW), out of Sydney. 4 nights at the Liberty Central, also have booked XO foodie tour:

Golden Train to Phan Tiet then taxi to Mui Ne, Coco Beach Resort bungalow, 3 nights;

Private transfer to Dalat by car, Hoang Anh Xanh Resort, 3 nights;

Private transfer to Nha Trang, Asia Paradise Hotel, 3 nights;

Transfer to airport then flight to Danang and transfer to Hoi An, Vinh Hung Riverside resort, 5 nights (including Full Moon Festival)

Transfer to Da Nang then flight to Hanoi, Anise Hotel 4 nights.

Whilst in Hanoi we have been invited to the home of our guide from Hanoi Kids that we met last trip. She has very kindly invited us to meet her family, we feel very honoured!

We then have a booking for four nights at the Ninh Binh Legend Hotel - this takes in the Reunification Day and Labour Day holidays - we are not sure whether to keep this booking or continue our trip to either China or Laos for about another ten days before heading back to Sydney via Singapore for 3 nights. Any thoughts please? Would it be really busy in Ninh Binh at that time?

Hi Greg. Re Ninh Binh and the holidays, the situation will be as stated in the replies to your previous thread on the subject:

tripadvisor.co.uk/…46860132

Crowded or not, the vast majority of tourists will be Vietnamese people enjoying their break. How much more fun can that be?

Sounds good Greg,

Yes you are teasing!! I can't get back till May :-)

Are some of the destinations on your itinerary new, or are you backtracking to places that you loved??? Just curious.

Sounds great,

Mark

I'm glad you're returning and getting invited to a Hanoi kids home, that is special.

Jackie, I can already vouch for the quality of the Liberty Central, having stayed there before. I will keep you posted with the opinion of the others after we visit.

Mark, yes we are backtracking a bit to HCMC, Hoi An and Hanoi - we enjoyed each of the places and want to reaquaint with people we met. The other areas are new to us and this forum has raised my interest to see them.

Chrella we feel like this young lady is a part of our extended family now after having kept in touch for the past two years. It will be wonderful to see her and to meet her family :-)

H all, our Vietnam leg of this journey is drawing to a close, only two more nights left before we head on to Laos and then Singapore on the way home. Our experiences have been mixed, but, on the whole, enjoyable. We have noticed the effects of overcommercialisation in some areas, Hoi An of note. I have added some reviews of our hotel stays, some really good, but a couple that could do with a bit of improvement. The people have been friendly and we have remet some friends we made on our last trip. Of note was our former Hanoikids host, who we met up with yesterday. Unfortunately her grand mother has fallen ill and we did not meet her parents, however it now looks like we are on the invitation list to her wedding!

We are currently in Hanoi, staying at the Anise Hotel - they have gone out of their way to look after us after a bad experience with a fall due to water on the hall tiles, poor air conditioning and noises that kept us awake. They gratiously upgraded our room and have comped a meal in their restaurant, as well as the manager offerring some of her 'special medicines' to ease my wifes hip ache after her fall! We do not go looking for freebies, but do appreciate a few extra niceties when things don't go quite right. Still love Vietnam and the people here and we both consider ourselves at home in street crossings and being driven in taxis!!
