Atm cash limit

Have the banks set the limit for atm money withdrawal to 2 million pr transfer ?

Before i could take out 8 million by techcombank, but last time i went to vietnam i could only take out 2 million each time i made an withdrawal from my creditcard account, if i wanted to take out more money then 2 million i had to make several transfers at once, and since i have to pay the bank some pr transfer it becomes more expensive.

My wife has told me that all banks have changed the limit to 2 million, is this true and how come they changed it ?

I hope some bank will have an higher limits, Techcombank was very good last trip.

Banks can do whatever they want with foreign card.

Look at Thailand, no limits but 5$ fee for every transaction....

I sure hope not.

My Visa debit card is absolutely ridiculous.

Cross border transaction fee is anywhere between 3.5% to 11.5%.

Vietnamese bank fee (approximately 20 000 VND).

Including 3% service charge.

So you're talking the best part of 15% in charges per transaction.

And the banks wonder why nobody has faith in them anymore.

Thieves, the whole lot of them.

Rant over.

not sure of the fee, as i was using a guest cc, seeing he was too lazy to go to the city and get money, he gave me his card whenever i wen to the city

he was here for 204 night, so i go to do this quite a few times, but never had the idea of looking at the fee

he's gone now so i can't ask him

I've had the same problem and have therefore tried most banks in the last couple of months.

Agribank will only give 3million per transaction unless you hold an Agribank card and then it's 10million

Donga bank will do 5 million

ANZ will do 4.8million

These were the 3 best atms I have come across, all charging a 1% fee. (Then your bank puts on their fee also)

Hope that helps

I was referring to the fixed fee, usually 20.000d, the 1% is from Master card and it depends of the issuing bank.

Donga will work only on Visa debit, a card not sold in Italy.

ANZ was asking a lot more, 50.000d fixed I think, never used.

Really bad that Techcombak is gone....

Just returned this week and found MB atms the best with $5m withdrawal. Agribank was $3m but more if you had agribank card. Most fees were 20,000 but some were 30,000 (Sacombank, Viet etc)

I used Techcom but cant remember the limit on this and found ANZ difficult to find in some areas

9 million from citibank next to the bank branch, Nguyen Hue, Saigon last week . Used Citibank plus debit card. No fees. Exchange rate just over 18,800. Cash at money changers around town was about the same exchange rate on that day.

Loving my holiday.
