Hi Chi Minh City what district to stay in?

We are looking tostay in Ho Chi Minh city March 2014, I have looked at Royal Lotus & Grand Silverland hotels - what are the areas like around these hotels and are we far from any sights ?

Or is there somewhere else that is worth staying at ?

thanks

The Liberty Central is right next door to the Ben Thanh markets and an easy walk to most of the attractions. It has a nice pool, good rooms and great breakfasts. I believe that most will suggest District 1 as being the most central for activities for the tourist.

Adding to what sgtgwh said, that would be District or Quân 1.

Agree, for me too district 1 would be the better choice.

District 1 (or Quan1) for sure,

If you are looking for something more sedate and expensive, check hotels in the Dong khoi and Nguyen hue areas. If looking for a bit of fun and some cheap accom, look at the backpacker district around Pham ngu lao and Bui vien. IMO :-)

Both areas are in the main tourist zone.

Check out the Agoda and Asitravel websites to see prices and what's available for your dates.

Have just returned from Vietnam.

In November we stayed in The Grand Silverland Hotel which was very close to the Ben Thanh Markets.

This year we stayed in The Grand Hotel which ticked all the boxes. Would not stay anywhere else.

Absolute magic!!!
