How ,much do you suggest is a good tip for a tour guide for 9 days

I negotiate a generous daily rate and stick to that.

But if you really want to give them something extra,something between 500000- 1000000 VND wouldnt send you broke and it would be well and truly appreciated by them.

A lot of tour guides will be making a bit extra on the side from taking you to shops and restaurants where they can get a backhander off the owner for bringing you there..

Watch for the signs.

Hi we gave our tour guide between $10 to $20 depending if it was a full day or half a day that was for a group of 4 adults and he really looked after us always plenty of cold drinks beers etc he even brought us a bottle of wine when we done a dinner cruise . A private guide doesn't expect it as much as a guide through a tour company

Hi John,

General, tour guide fee around 500,000 vnd/day. There is some volunteer student guides in Saigon and Hanoi

Saigom Hotpot and Hanoikid is most recommend here

Takes a travel person to suggest 500,000 tip/day, and to not notice that you need the guide for 9 days, so probably not in HCMC or Ha Noi.

More than most people spend on a one star hotel.

I assume that poster #1 meant 500000-1000000 for the 9 days, not per day.
