Can you do just a day trip of Halong Bay from Hanoi?

Thanks!

We did a day trip to Halong Bay in August as we were travelling with our 3 year old and were a bit nervous about staying overnight. We organised a airconditioned car and guide thru our hotel. It was excellent. A bit expensive though. It cost $86USD per adult and children free. We only shared our boat with two other people. The drive wasn't too bad as lots to see on the way and you stop off at a few places for a drink and look at local handicraft which breaks the journey.

We are visiting Vietnam in April 08. My husband and I would love to visit Halong Bay, but our 11 year old daughter suffers with sea sickness. Is this likely to be problem (photos I have seen look like the water is calm).

TheBoss,

We were at Halong Bay in April last year. There were children in our group aged about 2, 11, 13 and none of them had any problem of sea sickness. The feeling was like we were in a big lake.
