It will be cold in Feb. This is considered as the coldest month of the year. It will be Tet holiday (Lunar New Year)

Kayaking is alright, however, swimming is not reccommended then.

The temperature is around 5-12 C degrees.

hello firstchoice. Is the weather much warmer mid March. We too are considering a cruise of Halong Bay followed by a night or two on Cat Ba and would prefer if it is warm enough for swimming. Your help is appreciated.

We went to Halong Bay in February this year. Definitely NOT swimming weather. Kayaking was fun though. Especially as they just helped us climb overboard into the kayak, handed us a paddle and pushed us off. No lessons etc.

Don't expect the postcard type scenery with clear blue skies etc at that time of year. We had overcast skies with islands appearing through the mist and drizzle.
