kayaking halong bay

We would like to go kayaking for maybe 3-4 days i Halong Bay. Our interest is to kayak - we appreciate good kayaks, good nature, good food. we do not mind sleeping in tents etc

We would like to kayak maybe 4-5 hours every day.

Any suggestions?

Camping is frowned upon by the VN cops who will likely ask you to move to a hotel. The concept of camping and even camping trailers is new to them.

Likely you would be better going to Ha Long Bay independently and then renting kayaks when you get there.

The islands towards the Chinese border are less populated and have fewer boats - and there are even fisher's shelters dotted around where you could put up over night.

There are few people, no electricity, so you would need to take everything.

Bring your GSM low band telephone and load it with prepaid Vinaphone (better coverage) service so you can keep in touch.

Just make sure you check the map to see where Chinese territorial waters begin!

Hi Vera,

Very easy.

I've travelled there with kayak 3 day, wonderful to discover Halong.

For luxury, we will go with Bai Tho or Huong Hai.

But for authentic, plse go with Hai au or Phuogn tin junk.

I went with Hai au through a travel agent vietlandexplore.com

and they organised well at under 500$

Last summer, I joined a 5 days Kayaking trip in Ha Long Bay. The Travel Agent used Sit-on-top Kayak to discover the Bay.

The services on boats are fantastic, especial on Deluxe Junk. The guide lead us to many nature wet caves and grottos, it was wonderful.

The authority will not allow you camping on the beach so you can stay overnight on the escort boat.

That is!
