Did the same thing. Bangkok to Hanoi. Quite a shock when we arrived in Hanoi. Took a little getting used to, but after a couple of hours, we were having a great time.

Enjoy your stay!!

Have a great time and be careful crossing the streets.. 8o)

We were initially overwhelmed arriving into Hanoi from Singapore but after 24 hours we fell in love with the place and will stay longer than 7 days next time.

You'll love Halong Bay.

What do you think about Hanoi and daily life there. Do you try street food and coffee in Hanoi like Hanoi people?

Have nice trip.

garrett. Maybe shock was a harsh word. After four days in Bangkok where the infrastructure is good by international standards, we found Hanoi to be lacking even though our expectations weren't high as it is an emerging market. Our first impression was in the old quarter, which probably didn't help perception as it was dirty compared to other parts of Hanoi that we visited. A couple of hours exploring though, and we were having a great time!!

Just a little adjustment after coming from Bangkok, that's all.

Bangkok has become quite a cosmopolitan city whereas Hanoi has remained more "Asian" , HCMC although nothing like Bangkok is also very cosmopolitan with the big chain hotels and department stores, I personally prefer Hanoi but let us know your thoughts after your trip.
