How to get to ba be? (and sapa)

As in the topic, we will be staying in Hanoi, but we would like to visit Ba Be park. We do not like organized tours too much, yet we could consider one if there is no DIY way to get there.

Moreover, how many days/nights would you guys suggest to spend there?

Last, if we are planning to go to Sapa immediately after the park, should we go back to hanoi or is there a direct way?

Thank you

Geki

Hi,

For Ba Be Lake trip , should go for 2 days 1 night.

For Ba Be Lake and Ban Gioc Water fall should go for 3 days 2 nights.

You can take the bus to Ba Be, Bac Can province from My Dinh Bus station (20 minute from Old Quater)

For home stay, they have available easy for you get it with the price of 7 USD/per night to 10 USD. Food there is very nice.

If you prepare take a private car with driver cost 130 USD for a 7 seats car.

Hope this will help !!! Enjoy your holidays.

@thebtourist

what a useful answer. they should give you a full time job on one of these sites! ps - next time tell them to stop off in bac kan and i will direct them from here.

THERE IS A NEW STRETCH OF QL3 about 40km north of HN. saves a lot of time and potholing and stress. if you pass the archway saying thai nguyen province, you have just missed the turning.

For the very reason stated in some of the placeholders, to wit:

"TripAdvisor staff removed this post because it did not meet TripAdvisor's forum posting guidelines with prohibiting self-promotional advertising or solicitation.

Not the greatest English but the meaning is clear.

motorcycle to ba be:

addition to the information on review pages:

the new highway three now open almost to hanoi - so please ignore the first part of the route on my review.

TA do not allow us to edit reviews; so i hope you found this. follow highway one north and - hopefully - you will find 'QL3moi' [new highway 3] posted. i got lost coming into hanoi so i am not best placed to give the new route in or out of central Hanoi.
