Happy Inn or AnAn?

We are looking for a nice midrange hotel for 3 nights. Which do you prefer? Any advice?

Hi there,

Not surprisingly I haven't stayed in both. I've only been to HCMC once so far. But I can tell you that they are only 50 metres apart. The AnAn is on the corner of Bui Vien street and what's often called mini hotel alley - I guess some if not all rooms must face the street not the alley. The Happy Inn is a little way up the alley and is (relatively) quiet.

I stayed at the Happy Inn for three nights just three weeks ago. I thought it was lovely. I had a room with a balcony on the second floor - big room, smallish bathroom but with a proper tiled shower area. a/c, TV, fridge. Comfy beds. Very low key sort of place. No breakfast, no internet, no tour desk, but lovely staff and very well kept.

The AnAn is probably more of a 'hotel' - certainly it has a tour desk with street frontage and a large TNK Travels sign. It took me a while to realise it was part of the AnAn!! I used them to book a train ticket and can highly recommend.

So I suppose it depends on what you want..

Is the AnAn worth the extra money? don't know.

You should be aware that there are two Happy Inns (same owners). The other is on Bui Vien St itself and is a big place whereas the one I stayed at had only 15-18 rooms.

Cheers.

Ha Hien Hotel, 145 Ly Tu St, Ben Thanh Ward

You can see the market from the back rooms. I wasn't overly impressed with it but a lot of people on the forum have stayed there and liked it. I found the beds quite hard and the breakfast was pretty average, the rooms are small but clean. However, position wise, its excellent. There are many hotels in that street for you to choose from if you just want to arrive. Go to the HCMC hotel reviews to get more comments.

We stayed in the An An Hotel in October and it was excellent and the beds were comfortable, unusual for Vietnam.

Good clean family hotel but no breakfast. Still plenty of cheap eats within metres.

Cytan6613,

Sometimes we book one night based on reviews in this forum. After checking in, we'll walk out to eat, shop and search for another nice hotel which has no review anywhere.

If you're worried, book up the number of night you need. When you find better hotel on arrival, stay only one night at the booked hotel.

I realise there is 2 AnAn. 1 is called AnAn, the other AnAn2. Is there any different beside the location?

Thanks
