Dam Sen Water Park

Hi,

Looking at taking the kids to Dam Sen Park for the day.

Does anyone know entry costs and if its worth a full day or just half day?

Also is there more to see there then just the water park?

Cheers Matt

Matt,

From memory, the entry cost is about 1 US$ per head.

Hi Matt,

The water park itself is quite small by western standards, but in the remainder of the park there is plenty to occupy at least a half day. There are amusement rides, a monorail, a mini zoo and aquarium, landscaped gardens, rock climbing and a whole lot more. It's a great place for kids to run around and explore in a relatively safe and peaceful environment.

Do you pay in and then pay for each ride, or how does it work. WE are going to HCM in March with two kids aged 9 and 6, is there a lot for them to do. How do we get there?

Carey2,

Saigon is hot so the kids may like playing with water at the water park next to Dam Sen Park. The entertainment in HCMC for kids is limited so I think Dam Sen is an ok place.

Just googled Saigon Water Park and there is a post on Wikipedia saying it is closed. Is that the same place, or is it a different place.

It is different from the Saigon Water Park. . We spent half a day at the park in October and could easily have spent longer. You pay an entry fee to get into the park, it has wonderful gardens you can stroll around and amazing sculptures made out of plates and bowls in the entrance way. You have to pay another fee to enter the water slide area and also pay for the rides. The cost was only about $1 per ride and from memory it was a couple of dollars to get into the waterslide, wave pool part.

The pool area was spotlessly clean and the take away food was very good and also very cheap. We caught a taxi there from our hotel.

While it is not Disneyland we thoroughly enjoyed it and it was wonderful to see the Vietnamese interpertation of a theme park. The haunted castle and the dinosaur ride were good. We didn,t go on any others.

Enjoy

cheers Marian

Dam Sen park is great but can be very quiet on the weekdays. It is quite lovely to just walk around the central lake and enjoy some peace and quiet.

We also caught a taxi there but caught the public bus back (can't remember bus #) which went back via cholon to Ben Thanh market for 3000VND each.

The bus stop is about 100m up the road from the main entrance.

Our family went there 2 weeks ago it costs about 50,000VND (can't remember). In the morning / early afternoon there were thousands of school kids which was a bit overwelming, but they all seem to leave about 2 pm and things became normal. Our kids had a ball (12,10,7). It took about 45 mins from district 1 to get there. Hope this helps.
