need advice on itnenery

I am trying to get off the beaten track a little bit. I have traveled to Thailand, Burma, Throughot Indonesia and Three Weeks in India last year. I enjoy a mix of the rural with the cties. But I am not quite ready to be decended on by hawkers every place We go.

1-Hanoi

2-Hanoi

3-Hanoi

4-Halong bay overnight with Kayaking I am thinking of the Emeruede cruise or any deluxe boat.

5 Fly to Hue

6-hoi an

7-hoi an

9 hoi-an

10 fly to HCMC

11 HCMC

on to Ankor Wat and Luang Prabang

We can fit in a few more days in Vietnam Mabe Dalot or a beach. I don,t think we have enough time for Sapa. I also posted traveling to Chou Doc then on to Phnom penh as a way of seeing the Meking delta.

or a day trip to the delta.

Also I want to give a special thanks to Allen J for helping me with my India trip. It was awesome.

We want upscale hotels.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Thanks. Sally

Hi Sally,

For number 9 and 10, from Hoi An, do you go to Danang then fly to HCMC?

thanks Land

Where would you advise staying Dalang? Also can anyond recommend a new and very clean boat in Halong bay that includes kayaking. If it is cold in Late Nov. I don,t want to be stuck in an old mildew smelling boat.

Vietnam is hard to plan. I would still love to hear about any excurions from Hanoi or Hoi an with natural beauty and not alot of tourists.

Hi sallyho,

1-Hanoi( Arrived)

2-Hanoi(City tour or perfume pagoda or traditional villages)

3-Hanoi( to Halong bay with Emeraude cruise and Kayaking. overnight)

4-Hanoi(come back from Halong)

5 Fly to Hue(to see folklore showing on Huong river)

6-Hue to hoi an(150 km, it take around 4 hours by car on the way you can see Lang Co beach, Myson Holy, Marble mountain)

7-hoi an

9 hoi-an

10 fly to HCMC( from Danang)

11 HCMC

In Halong bay you could be go to Quan Lan island or Bai Tu Long(nice beach) where not too much tourist but it is very expensive and at lease you have 3 days.

If you like stay in Danang 1 night you should be booking at furama resort(5 stars hotel).

Have a good trip.

Sally,

In DaNang the premier resort is the Furama, top shelf 5 star, but let me mention when you stay in these compound type resorts you miss the best things of Vietnam....it's people and interacting with them, you could get as much from watching a travelogue on TV. My blog site has some pictures of Hoi An and Marble Mountain if you're interested.

Hope you have a good trip.

Hi Sally,

Before my trip last month, I asked my friend in Vietnam to check Furama (in Danang) for me. She said the best rate was US$130++ with breakfast for 2 upgrade to Lagoon View. So I didn't stay.

I finally stayed in a budget hotel but I got close to local people. A good experience for me.

In DaNang I've stayed at the Saigon Tourane on Dong Da st. It's very nice and the staff is great, very close to the river area. The food is very good there too. I'm going to try the DaNang Hotel or the Green Bamboo on the river this time, just for a change. The only place I would say to stay clear of is the summit of Hai Van pass. That's the worst place in Vietnam for hawkers I've seen. Fast change artists and pick pocket the lot of them......the government should get rid of them all.......

Thanks for all your comments. I have been informed that there is an APEC conference in Nov. in hanoi and rooms are very booked so I may have to change my plans and fly into Da Nang, but I hear it is the rainy season that time of year.
