Hi,

Wondering is there is an official taxi stand outside airport and if all of these are guarantees to not be scammers??

Just choose a cab that's got a meter and that will be a good start. Vina Sun Taxis - the red, green and white ones - are very good.

I suggest Vinasun too. I haven't heard much scam victim on Vinasun. But you better check the meter just in case.

We just got back from amazing Vietnam a couple of weeks ago. The only place we got scammed was in Saigon with a taxi trip. On leaving the war remnants museum in torrential - I mean TORRENTIAL rain, we got into the first taxi we saw, which was conveniently waiting outside the entrance of the museum. We normally took the vinasun taxis, but because of the rain, we just jumped into the closest one. It had a meter, however, in our short trip to the Majestic Hotel, it racked up a $10 US fare. The meter was jumping in erratic bursts, so when we politely questioned the fare, the driver quickly reduced the fare. We still paid far too much for the fare, but, you've gotta get scammed at least once and it also makes for a good story, lol.
