The mosquitos that bring you dengue fever bite during the daytime as well. But I wouldn't worry too much. I usually forget to apply repellent, but when I do remember to do it, it is only after 17:00.

I agree with jim..I too usually forget to apply but when I do remember I always use the local Soffel. It's not worth bringing repellent from home

I did however get a couple of massive bites this year

The thing I do always bring from home is a pack of anti-histamine tabs non drowsy so if you do get bitten it takes the itch and swelling down pretty quickly

Apply it all day - from what I have read about dengue fever you don't want to take any risks.

need to use whole day when going to countryside or jungle and some big cities you can apply at dusk.

Local brand Soffel is very popular and can find in every drugstores or convenience stores

and don't forget that sunscreen goes on first and then the bug spray (and remember to do under the arches of your feet if you are wearing flip flops - the little blighters will find that nice soft bit of foot)

we dont - simply because I have to use bug spray for dengue mozzies so I see no point taking meds when the spray works for both kinds.

However, that said, I am NOT a doctor and you should seek your own advice from a suitably qualified tropical medicine specialist

I got bit 10 times in Vietnam but I seem to attract them and this was after applying bug spray from Canada. Maybe I didn't apply enough? My travel clinic said that malaria vaccine wasn't required.
