No safe in room?

Hi we are staying at the Goldiana in PP (part of an organised tour) but have seen on a few not-so-good reviews that there are no safes in the rooms but that things can be stored in the main office, which I am a little dubious of. Does anyone know if this has changed? If not, are we better carrying our passports, travellers cheques etc with us when we go out? Lonely planet etc seem to advise against this. We are not in PP for long - arrive about 8pm, lots of sightseeing next day, out for dinner then up the morning after and off to Siem Reap. Thanks!

We have stayed at hotels before without in room safes, just use the hotel one, safer than carrying everything with you, we have never had a problem before.

Same as previous reader. We stayed in a hotel in Malaysia without an in room safe and just left our valuables at reception in the safe and had no problems... I think the Goldiana is a well established hotel and they have a reputation to withhold.

Best of luck
