June vs September in Siem Reap and Surrounds

How would you compare June vs September for green and lushness, temperatures and number of tourists? We have some business there, but do want to see Angko Wat again as well as take a trip into the coutryside around Battambang.

Hi,

September is greener and usually a bit 'fresher'. The rice crop cannot be planted until there have been a couple of weeks of rain as the ground is just too hard to work at the end of the dry season. So as the rains start somewhere between late April and May, in June the new rice crop will only just have been planted if the rains aren't late as they sometimes are. Visitor numbers are about the same imo. In September there can be some localised flooding which can make transport around the Kingdom a bit slower.

Cheers

Late September and October last year, 2011, saw five serious back to back floods lat year.

This, however, was exceptional.

If you like heat, humidity, rain and virtually no tourists go in June/July.

If you want a green and dust free environment and slowly increasing tourist numbers then go in September.

Personally, any time is a good time to be in Cambodia.

One just adapts to the season and dresses and moves accordingly.

All best regards. Ian
