short term volunteering (little cost, no accomodation needed

Hi,

I thought i would reach out to see if anyone had any advice where i could offer help for 1-2 weeks in Cambodia on a free basis, or small cost. I am not expecting or wanting accomodation, just offering to help in exchange to experience something different.

I am leaving in 3/4 weeks for 3 months in the region, and would be keen to do this, without the long winded hassle involved in usual volunteer programs, i simply want to offer some time.

If it helps, i am a sociable, kid friendly, active accountant

If anyone has any links or recommendations i would be keen to hear

thank you

Mark

If you want to help, just help random people. It doesn't have to be anything formal. Everyone in Cambodia wants to learn to speak English, well everyone who wants to be in the tourist industry anyway. Help them practice their English.

We had lots of conversations with random people, who were obviously just practicing their English. We ended up helping one guy at our hotel to complete an English worksheet. I was a bit wary about confusing them, as South African English can be a bit different a times, and our accent was often difficult for them.

CWF (conversations with foreigners) in phnom penh, you can Google for the contacts.

It's a small not-for-profit language school focusing primarily on conversational spoken english, and always interested in short-term volunteer teachers.

They charge their studemts roughly 1/5 of what most other language schools charge, and accept only students from demonstrated low-income households.

If you are in Siem Reap you should also consider donating blood at the children's hospital.
