vientiane or Luang Prabang

should we include 2 nights in Vientiane when we visit Laos in Feb 2012 or go straight to LP ? We are 2 fit and active 60 year olds but prefer comfort and style in hotels. Advice please. Or any suggestions where else to stay in Laos.

Thank you

We just loved our time in Vientiane. Our first trip allotted only a few days there. This year we spent 6. Some may say that's a lot, but for us it could have been longer. It is wonderful!

Amazed so many people think LP is the only game in town when it comes to Laos. Vientiane may be less scenic but it has real charm and is very friendly & laid back. You shouldn't miss Pakse in the south either - lovely colonial buildings & temples and a beautiful riverside location, but very few tourists so no commercial night market or tourist restaurants. Great nightlife as well.
