Guide book etc

I'm planning my first visit for December. I have a flight booked to KL and then home from Bangkok. My fledgling plan is 4 nights in KL and 7 nights in Georgetown/BF, with another 2-3 nights .......undecided. Then fly to Chiang Mai and onto Bangkok.

2 requests for info...........

I need to buy a good guidebook - any favourites out there?

Any suggestions for my "spare" days? Ipoh? Don't want to do "beach".

Thank you,

Trisha

Hi

I think TA is your best guide-book!! Go through the various trip reports here and you will get a goid idea.

you could also visit the official tourism websites.

another website is airasia.com - they have excellent printable info for thailand and malaysia

have a good one!

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, T/A is my travel bible and I have explored this forum extensively!

I have booked many AA flights but never noticed their destination info - I'll have a look.

Any ideas for my "spare" couple of days?

I'll be in Penang in December and it was suggested to me to visit Langkawi. Looks like a nice destination but I've ruled it out as I could only really spare 2 nights which leaves me just one full day. If you could spend 3 nights there it might be worth looking into.

I had thought about Langkawi. On another post someone has suggested it as a day trip from Penang - surely not feasible?

Is there much to do there besides beach activities?

I also read that the ferry is not a good idea?

Hi

The insight guide books are really really good.

Langakwi is great if you like to do not a lot. You can do as a day trip from Penang, you get aroung 6 hours there.
