Is Komandoo too quiet at night?

Thought we’d narrowed our choice down to 13 nights at Komandoo in September but some people are saying there is not much to do at night. Is there much in way of entertainment? I am a little concerned it will be too quiet in the evenings. Also is a JBV worth the extra money or is a bath really the only difference in which case is it worth spending the extra money? Many thanks

Its certainly not too quiet at Komandoo. Most night you will find entertainment in the main bar. Disco, live band, crab racing and so on.

Remember dont be afraid of a nice quiet night too 😎 the Maldives is spectacular and Komandoo is a fantastic island.

All Maldives islands are relatively quiet at night don’t let this put you off it’s a magical experience whilst it’s low key it’s usually great fun and gives you the opportunity to socialise when you want and perhaps chill out walking round the beach at night with a good torch looking at the marine life trust me it’s way better than cheesy entertainment you find in most resorts

The Maldives is generally not a high evening entertainment destinstion, but Kom has some good nights and there’s always the all inclusive bar menu!

JBVs are mainly located on the sunrise side of the island, which is preferable for views as the sunset side has a local island and when we were there in June there was more beach, with some erosion on the other side, but that might be seasonal,

We preferred the JBV locations on the sunrise side, didn’t see in a BV so don’t know if they have such a big garden area out the back. There are a few JBV’s on the sunset side but not many.

We really liked the entertainment on Komandoo, the only night we avoided the bar was the crab racing and a couple of nights we had drinks before dinner and then sat on our deck and made use of the mini bar 😊 There was a really good saxophone player when we were there, traditional bodu beru was really good too.

We've been to Kom 4 times, staying in a sunrise JBV (x3) or JWV (x1).

I'm not sure of the current pricing, but there didn't used to be a huge difference in pricing between the BVs and the JBVs. The BVs are all located on the sunset side where the neighbouring Local island is located. The sunrise side beach only has JBVs (but there are also a few JBVs on the sunset beach, at the end near the JWV jetty). Apart from the option of the sunrise view, the other advantage of the JBV is the larger private outdoor space at the back, with the bathroom opening out to an area with table & chairs plus the covered area with the daybed and jacuzzi-style bath. This space is really nice if you like the option of shade, or a place to relax outdoors even when it is raining.
