Which Is The Best All Inclusive Resort In The...

Hi

I have decided that the maldives is going to be my destination of choice for my honeymoon in September. We really want to be at an all inclusive resort to try and bring down the cost of spending while we are out there.

Has anyone got experience of what they consider a fantastic all inclusive resort? I have read reviews on many of them, but they contradict themselves to a certain extent - some people give a particular one 10/10 where others give the same place only 5/10. How can this be so?

Generally it seems that some places call themselves all inclusive, when all you get is beer and local spirits and can only eat in one restaurant. This isnt really what i want cause i could see spending more money than i would like while out there. I am prepared to spend alot of money on the holiday if i know that spending while out there is kept to a minimum - we have a budget of around 4500 for 2 weeks.

Please please please can anyone help with recommending an idylic resort. Preferably I want one that isnt completely secluded, but insnt overly commercial. I know my demands seem picky, but my future wife is leaving this (and pretty much only this) part of the wedding organising up to me, so dont want to let her down.

Many many thanks to anyone who can help me.

Best wishes

John

Hi John - Firstly I would personally say that you have chosen excellently for your honeymoon destination! My boyfriend and I have been to the Maldives twice now, and we can honestly not see us wanting to go anywhere else for the next few years. It really is paradise in my opinion. You are seeing mixed reviews because everyone has their own personal taste and standards. We have been to Meedhupparu and Coco Palm. Meed the first year was AI, and whilst the food was great, buffet style to a high standard, we did find ourselves eating for the sake of it because it had been paid for! Plus the a la carte restaurant wasnt included, so eating in there cost extra (I believe a lot of the AI resorts do that). We decided on B&B at Coco Palm last year, which we found better. We didnt spend half as much as we budgeted for, and we could eat in the restaurant of our choice, but we did skip lunch several days as breakfast was just so good. All the really top resorts dont seem to do AI. We will be going again this year, not sure which island yet, but we wont go AI again. It really is down to what you would prefer. We found neither Meed or CocoPalm too secluded nor over commercialised - both island were very naturally beautiful. We found the standard of accommodation better at Coco Palm. You may find it helpful to get all the brochures that include the Maldives, and basically study them. Decide what facilities are important to you and rank the islands based on this. You have a pretty good budget there for a good resort. We spent approx 1900 each at CocoPalm which is 5star rated in the brochures, but we could have spent more if we Spa treatments, went on trips, went diving etc. Whetever you decide on - I really would recommend a seaplane transfer to your resort - it is out of this world! Hope my limited info helps a little.

if ur wanting pure luxury honeymoon i wouldnt recommend meedhupparu. I would recommend hilton as they have just finished their refurbishment programme and the new villas and restaurants look amazing. I stayed at banyan but u can only go full board there and it will cost more than ur budget. Hilton is cheaper and all the reviews are raving about the resort.

Is this or is this not, just the best forum on the planet! You guys are really helping me so much - dont know what I would have done without your knowledge, so thank you thank you thank you!

Have just been looking at the Hilton and it does look absoluteley amazing. Does anyone have any idea how much the drinks are here though. My wife will love me for staying there, but might go off me when presented with the bill at the end of 2 weeks of cocktails!!!!!!!

Thanks again
