which destination?

Having read the forum it looks like there's a LOT of you who know what you're talking about so...

We're heading for the Maldives for a week at the start of September as part of a 5wk honeymoon. the flights are booked so we're looking for accomodation/transfers only. Can anyone recommend whether it would be best to book direct with the resorts or through an agent?

Also having never been to the Maldives i'm trying to narrow it down to which islands. At the moment its between Makunudu, Komandoo or Kuramathi, unless anyone has got other suggestions?

We don't want a resort full of 'chavs' (as a lot of negative reports have said of the bigger islands) but haven't got a huge budget (about £1500 for the two of us) and want a bit of desert island feel but with a good place to eat..

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to advise...

Hi

If you are only wanting accomodation then booking with the resort direct would probably be best although i have never done it myself i do know people that always do it that way, the choices that you have made are good also have a look at veligandu and vakarufalhi

Hi G

I agree with Bernese, book directly with the resorts.

Maybe pop into some travel agents and "borrow" all their Maldives brochures to give you an idea of the resorts available, then jump on the resorts websites and take it from there.

Good Luck

P.S. Also look at Mirihi, Manafaru, Reethi Beach or even some closer to Male to cut down on transfer costs.
