Can you believe it, our fab Olympus Tough 8000 broke our first full day. Took it out snorkeling for an hour when we arrived. Used next day for 5 minutes and then it came up with error and basically never worked after that.
I have called Olympus and they have agreed to give us our money back as this is our third replacement now, 2nd time of this model. However Russ has discovered you can buy a housing for the camera which is Olympus PT-045 Waterproof Housing. Has anybody used this? Any problems with it? We just will never trust a waterproof camera anymore without the housing but don’t want to be in a position of getting a replacement camera buy the housing then the housing lets in water etc.
If we get our money back we will only get the price of the first model we bought but when that was replaced they gave us the 8000 which is worth around £100 more. We do like all the functions on the camera and to buy an equivilent speck of another make together with the housing would cost a lot more however I cannot have another holiday where we have no camera to use under the water, we were gutted, really were.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
we saw loads of different fish, snorkeling was over whelming really was out of this world!!
