Maafushivaru - Cost of Spa/Trips Etc

Hello All

I've posted quite a bit these past two weeks about planning a honeymoon which i had to delay as i'm possibly being made redundant. I'll know soon but it gives me a couple weeks more time to play around.

I'm down to two choices Athuruga and Maafushivaru

10 nights AI Water Villa's

Athuruga:

Pro: £1000 cheaper, better looking water villa, better looking water and beaches, wifi and ipod docks

Cons: Recent reviews on food. Predominantly Italian set-up and guests, slightly less atmosphere

Maafushivaru

Pro: Lovely Pool, Better food, Better ambience, bonus island, Less guests.

Cons: £1200 more expensive, more cost on island, villa's not as nice.

Firstly is Maaf worth £1200 more?

My main question goes to anyone who has been to Maafushivaru-

How much were the excursions? i would be interested in

Couples massage

Dinner on the uninhabited island

Night snorkelling?

If we go Maafushivaru our budget on island would only be about £500 ($750) including all trips and some money for gifts. I'm worried we'd go there and not be able to do anything.

That's my dilemma do i choose a better more expensive island and do nothing or scale down and do a lot?

Views are most welcome and wanted

consider a beach bungalow at Maaf, then prices are more comparable. I think Wasso has been to both and preferred Maaf

Hi guys ,,,, very difficult , Paul is correct been to both , like both the islands , water villas on athuruga are fantastic , food was great when we where there so cant say about the new comments does look like the food standard has dropped probably a new chef and the need to re-coupe the money spent on the rebuild , maff water villas small compared to athuruga no contest .

Maff uninhabited island meal was @$350+ not 100% [expensive i think], you get a FREE 1/2 massage & meal on the beach [honeymooners]

One free sunset trip , most other trips @ $20 -$40 each.

So not much help really , if it is down to cost athuruga wv , down to feel/atmosphere maff , i do agree maff is expensive now compared to athuruga.

We prefer Maff [beach villa] over athuruga[beach villa] as a hole island maff is better for us .
