Looking for a certain "best fit" place

I looked through past posts but didn't see the answer I was looking for ............ if I'm blind I apologize!

My query is this: I've been to Maldives a couple of times as an independent (Velassaru and Rhivelhi, later Asdu and Bandos) and my wife has never made it there. We're thinking of going late in 2012 and I'm seeking an island - or even better two "near by" islands - with the following qualities: diving NOT important, spa NOT important, outstanding beach/lagoon (like Rhivelhi?), decent food (loved Asdu's Italian wines!), photogenic (why I went independently before!), variety of clientele nations (Velassaru had 30+ nations represented during my time there), and still "reasonably" priced either AI or a la carte. Reasonable is relative, of course, as this is a special occasion BUT we're not "the 1%" ............................. so, say ...... no more than $500/night??

MUCH thanks in advance for any assistance .......... now I'm back to the internet to troll for potential atolls .....

Thanks Spammie .......... Veli was the least expensive at $625/night with the others between $800-$1500/night. So probably out of our price range IF we spend about two weeks in Maldives. They look fantastic, though .......

How about Kuramathi and Veligandu? Two very different concepts. Kuramathi is larger but really beautiful natural island with stunning sand bank and will be great for photo's. Also great choice of dining. Veligandu much smaller but stunning beach.

How about Angsana Velavaru and their Inocean villas?

Hello BBETVW

Just a brief comment on your room rates for Veli - the rates you are quoting seem to be rack rates. If you find yourself a helpful specialist they will be able to offer lower rates and a 15% early booking discount.

You could also then consider mixing Veli with the nearby Olhuveli, Fun, or Cocoa.

Thanks

Thanks nefertarti2uk, Bat_fish_babe, and Purely Maldives. Been swamped at work so no time to jump into Maldive research mode, but your suggestions are appreciated and I will look into each of your suggestions next week. Was also trying to take advantage of some special Emirates airfares ........... but that might be too much to tackle this early in the year.
