Most poignant Maldives nostalgia-triggers

Hubbo is working this morning and I have just enjoyed a long and therapeutic fix of sun, sand and solitude with pooch. As I walked along our lovely long beach with the sun in my face, the distant silhouetted figures of fellow walkers took me straight back to Fihalhohi and its daily afternoon per-amble. There are several other triggers that unfailingly transport me back to the Maldives and I wonder what everyone else's are?

Mine are :

The sound of small propeller type planes.

The gentle lapping sound of the tide when there is little or no wind.

The sound of small speedboats.

Crows in the morning.

The resident grey herons out at Hilbre Island near where we live.

That funny chocolaty, smokey, musty smell of humid air.

Any more, anyone? Or am I mad? (Don't answer that)

You're on to something there BFB....

Every time i see a lump of molten plastic it reminds me of Komandoo in 2006 when the super strength mozzie repellent we took melted me flip flops....

I see plenty of rats around London and not a single one has yet reminded me of the Maldives.

Walking up or down the stairs in my house as we have photos from Filitheyo mounted on the wall.

Just done another. Running my fingers through the little tray of Maldives sand which is by my desk in my office here at home. Sshh, don't tell.
