Islands you can swim round?

Can I possibly have a definitive list of islands I could swim/drift snorkel all the way round without encountering a sand-bar, restaurant on the end of a long jetty, endless row of water-bungalows or ferocious currents that would sweep me off to Thailand?

I can swim for about 3-4 hours in the sea without needing to put my feet down.

Biyadhoo, Ellaidhoo (wvs are inside the drop off/sea defences) and Vakarufalhi (wvs are inside the drop off/lagoon) - to get you started!

Wasn't this discussed on an earlier thread? I haven't been able to search for it so it can't have been the subject but rather a side discussion.

Stop re-cycling my old Adults Exclusive thread and answer this new one!

Can you swim round Reethi or Biyadhoo? Mirihi, surely? What about Filitheyo - that would be a challenge.

Thanks, Heather! Our posts crossed. What's Vakarufalhi like for snorkelling?

I liked Vakaru's reef, lots of fish and coral along the drop off by the jetty. Regularly saw 2, often 3, turtles a day plus quite a few large blacktips. Sure you meet current in places (not ripping though) and some parts were less interesting than others but the same is true of Ellaidhoo and Biyadhoo.

Think you would be hard pressed to swim around Reethi - the east side is more or less lagoon with some coral blocks which stretches some distance from the island. West side is by far the best.

We also snorkelled a fair way round Angaga but cut back across the lagoon from the wvs to the dive centre so not a complete circuit around the drop off. But then you know the reef there yourself.

Dusit Thani looks do-able!

The current will take u three quarters around biyadhoo and whilst you could technically swim the final bit around the south of the island, there are particularly strong currents there whenever I considered it and thought better of it. This area is reflected on maps of the island as not being particularly suitable for swimming.
