Selecting an island and a hotel

We are planning to go for two weeks in April. Our budget is £4000 all-in. We are an active and youthful 65-year-old couple (most of our friends are in their 30s and 40s). We like to chill, read, swim, snorkel and dive - and, of course, eat great food! And we like comfort.

Can you advise which island and hotel we should choose? With any info you can give about transfers, etc.

if you are talking about this april , your choice will be extremely limited. the most desirable islands will be booked solid for this current high season. i suggest you get with a good specialized agency like purely maldives and find out what your options are , this late in the game . if you present us with a short list of actual posibilities, we can give you much more valid input than building dreamcastles that aren't bookable.

I think budget is quite low for two weeks in April ( high season) if it includes international flights, transfers, food, drink and accommodation for two people,, ie that's what you mean by all in?

Suggest you look at first choice, Thomas cook, kuoni, Hayes and Jarvis etc and see what comes up on line as available within your budget, then come back to the forum with options and people can guide.

I don't think 4k will get you far if you mean for 2 of you, including flights, transfers and a good resort (on AI basis?) for 14 nts. This is because April is part of the hight season.

At least you can fly direct out of London, using the Thomson/FirstChoice/Hayes &Jarvis charter, or with scheduled BA flights.

Have you seen any packages which fit your criteria and budget? If so, let us know the resorts and we can give comments against your spec.

Actually it's doable, just checked first choice, two weeks, all in for two, at vilamendhoo is coming in at just over 4 k, departing on the 4 th April.

Can't quite believe it, not sure of room type, but yep, it's an option. The chaaya reefs also come in close, but possibly not advisable?

You might also fit Embudu or Fihalhohi into that budget - Embudu is AI but Fiha is full board so anything under the 4k could go towards drinks. Both are with Thomson from Gatwick.. Vilamendhoo would be great if in budget though.

Vilamendhoo has a fantastic reef for snorkelling and the re-furbished rooms are very comfortable. Fiha is great too but preferred Vila - table to ourselves and

the reef is bigger.
