10th wedding anniversary trip....Mirihi will be closed

Well I've tried to persuade Mirihi to let us help them with their renovations for 2 weeks next July so we can celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary on this special island ....but so far no joy. So, as anticipated, we need to look for somewhere else. Thoughts please....

- nice house reef is important for snorkelling, but we don't dive

- nice room (prefer WV or a fancy BV possibly with hot tub or jacuzzi bath)

- not close to Male

- not marketed towards families

- not marketed towards clients who like animators

- prefer HB, so don't really want an AI-only island

- don't need a pool

- no butlers

- small island (prefer no minibuses, buggies, quads or bikes)

- food needs to be good quality but we prefer a buffet rather than a la carte

- flying out 26/6 for 2 weeks

- budget ideally £5-6k max for 14 nights accommodation & transfers (will pick up Emirates flights separately)

- if all else fails we have seen Komandoo JWV in budget with Purely Maldives, but we are already going back there in Nov so would like to explore some new ideas as well.

Andy - the price for Ath always seems high, especially for a WV, and I assume this is because it includes AI.

I'm not sure if their AI includes fresh juices, milkshakes, extensive cocktails, premium spirits? We don't usually need lunch, so it seems we would be paying for something every day which we don't want. It would be ok if it was "a steal"...but I don't think the prices for Ath are such!

The Ath WV's are a lot more than the BV's . They are fairly new and very big . You get the A la carte WV restaurant or the main restaurant .

I prefer beach villas and paid £4300 for 12nts Ath last May .

£5300 for Mirihi 12nts this May plus £1200 drinks bill .

The AI includes pretty much everything.. fresh juices of all sorts, milkshakes, all the cocktails... there was a list in the bar of some stuff that was extra, think it was premium brands of cognac/whiskey/champagne but can't remember excactly. The cocktail meny was extensive so I always had enough with that.

The water villa prices are crazy! We stayed in a BV and loved it, we felt it was much better value for money.

Well we've finally booked today....

We were given a recommendation by Shareef on Mirihi, which I've been checking out for a while now.

It's taken some deciding.....maybe a bit contentious at the minute.....but I just couldn't shake it off......so now we've gone for the gamble.....it gives us a link to our honeymoon island so seemed fitting in some way....got quite a good deal.....and I'm hoping it lives up to expectations.....so exciting!

You can't say that and not say where!!!

I'm jealous, am desperately trying to book my dual island trip and getting nowhere fast as there doesn't seem to be an agent who has the first island on their books!

Hmm, Heather could be right!

Would make sense......................

It's Embudu Lyn, Thomson have it exclusive until April but no one seems to want to deal with it after that, crazy huh?

So, is it Embudu or Kandoludhoo?
