We have taken paracetamol, allergy pills etc. every time and never had any problems. Have also taken prescribed pills (keep it in the original box) and that has been fine too.

Hi

We take a whole pharmacy with us and have never had any problems! Apart from the usual OTC stuff that you've listed we also have to take OHs blood pressure pills, antidepressants, prophylactic stuff for both him and me as well as what are generally considered to be controlled drugs in many countries, that we are both prescribed. (Oh the joys of getting old!!!) We've never had a problem anywhere, including Dubai and Doha, but do take copies of our latest prescriptions and doctors letters confirming what medication we are both on. Never been asked for these though, so don't worry. Can't see that you'll have a problem.

6. Re: Non-prescribed Medicines

We take a small pharmacy on holiday in our hand luggage - several prescription and over-the-counter meds (imodium, paracetamol, ibuprofen, anti-histamine etc). Never had a problem in the Maldives or anywhere else. I've read advice to take a copy of prescriptions, have never done that but we do keep the medication in the original box that has the patient's name on it.

We take Co-codamol and haven't had any problems, but we always fly direct so don't have the Dubai issue. They're packed in the case rather than hand luggage though.

I've read that painkillers containing codeine are only an issue in Dubai if you're entering the country rather than transiting. Not sure how true this is, but we have been through Abu Dhabi two years running and were never stopped to examine the large amount of medication in our hand luggage.

In February, I took in their original prescribed boxes, to the Maldives via Dubai (not direct) Codeine, amitriptyline, diclofenac and had no problem whatsoever there or back, and we stay a night each way in Dubai
