Need advise for first time visitors.
International flights already booked.
Will be staying on Maafushi for 4-5 days in early June, and then have a few business meetings in Male. This part is covered.
After that, I have 3 nights to spend on a resort before flying on. This, I need advise on.
We are traveling as : 2 Adults + 1 Child (4 years old)
I have tried to provide the hopefully helpful info belwo, based on reading the FAQ
-Strict non-alcohol drinkers
-Not sure if it qualifies as "snorkelling", but want to see some fish near the beach without going to deep waters, i.e while standing or just pretending to swim / float. I think the right words would be....shallow lagoon. with patches to step on without damaging any plants / animals, with acceptable to good sea life for a first-timer.
-Non-divers (not interested in introductory diving courses either)
-Size of island. Hmm....as long as we won't get bored. I know it might sound strange, but if the island is just for enjoying the sun and lazing around, it will bore us to death as we receive more sunshine in one month than Maldives will receive in a whole year. So at least an island should have two or three sports
- A pool OR a calm shallow sea for playing in the water.
-Transfer mode - no preference, but journey should not be more than 45 minutes (regardless of whether it's seaplane or speedboat. Domestic transfer + speedboat is ok, but the speedboat should not be more than 30 minutes in that case)
- Insurance wise already very comprehensively covered so please don't take emergencies into consideration.
-Regarding night entertainment, not sure about this, so won't be an issue I guess.
-Wife a very light eater and daughter even lighter. They need death threats in order to try food they are unfamiliar with, especially Asian food. Western food is ok for them. Husband, average eater by Western standards, heavy eater by Asian standards.
Total Budget in USD (for specified board basis, accommodation and transfers)
BB : 1500
HB : 1800
FB : 2000
AI : 2300 (not very keen unless the benefits are significant even if alcohol is excluded)
Would be also nice to know what the particular resort you suggest provides for free, e.g free use of canoes, tennis courts etc
Looking forward to your expert recommendations!
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your reply!
