Which Hotel/Area

Hi,

we are booking our honeymoon and are lost as to which hotel or area to stay in. We dont want anywhere too touristy, and with easy access to transport and trips. We're looking for somewhere modern inside ans suited more to couples than children.

Some of the reviews have really put us of a number of hotels and now we're scared about spending so much money and ending up somewhere horrible!!!

Hi there,

Blue Water Wadduwa looks a good option, as it's relatively close to Colombo (and hence inland trips), has a brilliant pool and not family-oriented. Also Wadduwa is a relatively sleepy town, contrary to e.g. Bentota.

An alternative is to spend part of the time not on the beach but inland. Hunas Falls (near Kandy) is then a real honeymooners paradise but _really_ quiet; a place closer to town like Chaya Citadel or Mahaweli Reach would be better if you want to make many trips.

All the best,

Hi,

The most romantic place for a honeymoon in Sri Lanka is Hotel Elephant Corridor but the prices well above the market price still worth for the money.Privacy is well maintained. As Erik suggested those hotels are also good options. Also in Kandy Amaya hills is also a good option.

Stayed at all of the following (not for honeymoon, but...) and they are all top class:

If you are going to the culural triangle to do trips (Dambulla, Sigiriya, ancient capitals, etc) stay at Kandalama.

If going down South (Galle, and poss overnight at Yala) stay at Lighthouse. If you want serious luxury, try Amanwella on the South coast, amazing place and service

If going to Kandy (elephant orphanage, temple of the tooth, gardens, spices, etc), I'd also recommend Hunas Falls as the traditional honeymoon hotel (but it is really quiet! and although moderised it has an "old" feel). Great place to chill out.

Of course the ideal is to do a combination, and a company like Jetwing Uk or Red Dot with their local knowledge etc, would be able to organise this type of two/three centred holiday.
