We always stay in Habarana Lodge (now called Cinnamon Lodge) - great location, Eco Friendly hotel in huge grounds, next to a lake with it's own farm and recycling facilities. Lodges are really beautiful, good restaurant and pool. They organise free early morning bird watching tours in the grounds which have over 100 different species.

Very close to Minneriya National park for safaris which they can arrange and close to all of the other cultural triangle sites. We actually prefer this to the Kandalama Hotel.

Part of the John Keells group hotels - see

Thanks to you both. the Cinammon Lodge it is then. Loving the early morning bird watching tours.

There seem to be some great hotel deals on sri-lanka-hotelguide.com as well. CL is £51 for a double in March which seems good value to me.
