Cultural Triangle vs Hill Country

Hi, Planning on traveling to Sri Lanka in December. Am considering Kandy and the Cultural Triangle or Kandy and the Hill Country. Unable to do both as we only have 5 days in Sri Lanka. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there,

It really depends on your taste, not ours. Triangle is more like the old civilisation valleys in Pakistan, with many old temples and the lovely Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Dry and HOT. Hill country is more like higher up in the Pakistan Hindu Kush and Himalayas, much cooler with waterfalls and tea plantations...

Hope this helps a bit,

If you are interested in Sri Lankan ancient history, heritage, culture etc. I think the best option is Cultural triangle. However if you are interested in having your holiday spent in a cooler climate with a picturesque location with valleys, waterfalls etc. then its Hill country.
