Drivers/guides

Hi all - we are planning to go to Sri Lanka in Novemeber. We were thinking of doing around 2 weeks and would like to get a private car (rather than a tour) to take us inland for a week and then we were thinking of spending 4 or so days somewhere on the beach. What is the best way to go about finding a car with driver? what is the average price per day please? Lastly any recommendations for great beach location - preferably something a little rustic/basic. Appreciate any feedback

Hi there,

Drivers abound. You can also scan this forum or send PM's to us DE's.

Price per day Rs 6,000 for max. 150 km.

Best beaches (esp. in unsettled November) are south: Tangalle, Mirissa and Unawatuna.

All the best,

Hmmm.. it's pretty easy to organise locally. Make sure the agency or travel desk or driver books the hotels of your choice for you; they can get a considerably lower rate than individuals get over the phone. But it also helps browsing yourself a bit on hotel sites on the Net, like Asiarooms, to see what good prices are...

All the best,
