no anti malarials

This is my first time to Sri Lanka so any help at all is grateful - I read on tripadviser that you do not need anti malarials tablets - is this the case.

Also what prices are we expecting for food and drink ? We are going to Dubai first then a short tour of Sri Lanka , then 6 days beach (Negombo) then back to Dubai. As I said any advise at all would be welcome.

In tourist areas in Sri Lanka you no longer need malaria tablets. I took them for over three years when living there but no longer do so.

This link will take you to the Scottish NHS site and should reassure you:

Food prices - expect to pay about £2- £3 per person for a lunch in a good restaurant and about £4 for dinner. Large tourist hotels will be more, of course - a buffet is usually £7 - £10. (Exclusive of alcohol)

If you are prepared to eat where locals eat, you can get things much cheaper than this. I had lunch in a place recently featured on Rick Stein's Asian Odyssey, it cost £4.50 for three of us! It was fantastic.

David.

Thank you for your prompt reply - really useful. I am amazed at the prices, we were in Dubai and Mauritius on our last holiday so you can imagine my delight at the prices you have mentioned. I am really looking forward to my trip.

PS -Where was the restaurant you mentioned ?

Once again thanks
