What type of plug adaptor to take?

We're flying out on Saturday (SO excited!) and just finishing off our packing and we were wondering whether we needed a plug adaptor. The Rough Guide seems to suggest that UK type sockets are the norm - is this correct? We are staying at Heritance Kandalama, Chaaya Citadel, Tea Trails, The Lighthouse and Villa Bentota. Does anyone have any experience of what is needed at these hotels?

Hi Helen....

All depends on what hotel you are staying at , for instance Heritance Kandalama does not have UK type 3 pins, but the rounded 3 pins, but there will be adaptors already in the rooms there.

Can't speak for the other hotels, but all are likely to have an adaptor available to loan if rooms don't have UK 3 pin plugs.., but would seem likely the Rough Guide is a "Little Rough" around edges on this one.

just got back from Sri Lanka & I took the wrong travel plug but they are readily available over there from any electrical shop for about 200 rupees (£1.20)

They look link a multi plug adaptor and accept 5 different sorts of plugs.

It worked in every hotel/guest house we stayed at.

Have a good one
